Jacqui Wise on Covid-19 Variants,
A great summary on current knowledge about SARS-CoV-2 variants in BMJ. Mutation is not unexpected. The more a virus reproduces or replicates, the greater the possibility that new variations will circulate. Why is this important? Some variants may become bigger problems. They may pass easier from person to person, they may cause worse disease and existing vaccines may not work as well against them.
Clear. Simple. Science:
The best way to minimize the problem of variants is to get
more people vaccinated against existing strains.
